Music - CD Review or Artist Profile

If you are a musician, writer or artist, represent a major or independent company producing or promoting bluegrass music or events, or for any other reason believe you have something we should be reviewing, please feel free to e-mail us or send us review materials at: Bluegrass Works LLC, 31 Oakdale Avenue, Weston, MA 02493. Please include appropriate press information, photo or image (if applicable) and contact information, so that we may reach you should we have questions or problems. All material sent to us for review becomes the property of Bluegrass Works LLC and will not be returned.

Music should be submitted in CD format. Wherever possible, we prefer to receive two (2) copies: one for a staff reviewer or contributor and one for Bluegrass Works LLC to create digital music samples. Please do not submit cassette tapes or other media as these will be ignored. If you are submitting music to us on a pre-release basis, please indicate clearly whether or not there are date restrictions on review publication. DVDs and books may also be submitted for review.

Written material should be submitted on paper along with, wherever possible, a digital copy as well. Digital copy (preferably in Word format or similar word processing text) may be submitted on disc or by e-mail. Photographs or other images should be submitted in .jpg or .gif format, and may be submitted on diskette or by e-mail.

Events

You may add upcoming events (festivals, concerts, jam sessions, etc.) directly to the database yourself, free of cost. The process is simple, with easy to follow instructions. You are encouraged to return and edit or delete information if applicable.

Upcoming CD Release Information

If you would like to add an upcoming CD release to our list, please feel free to e-mail us at: lgeffen _AT_ mintz _DOTCOM_ (replace _AT_ with "@" and _DOTCOM_ with ".com") and be sure to include the Artist name, CD Title, recording label and the street release date, as well as contact information should we have questions.

Classifieds

You may post classified information yourself in our Forum, in the appropriate location. Our policies for posting classified ads are listed in the Forum under each Classified category. Please respect the policies.

Review Policy

We reserve the right to review or not review, for any reason, any material submitted to us. While we will do our best to review all relevant, quality material we receive, we do not guarantee that we will review everything which we receive. No guarantee can be given as to the publication date of a particular review. Note, in particular, that we will NOT REVIEW any material that is primarily promotional or contains advertising or material that is derogatory, offensive or overtly controversial. We are not required to inform you of the reason(s) any submission were not reviewed. We will not review EPs. We reserve the right to publish basic information regarding a submission without review.

We generally attempt to have CDs, DVDs and books assigned to reviewers whose musical interest and/or expertise is appropriate to the material being reviewed. However, this is not always possible nor is it guaranteed. Most published reviews are handled in a timely manner and are determined by reader interest, release date and or other criteria deemed appropriate by us.

Each review published is the individual opinion of the reviewer and does not necessarily represent the opinions of Bluegrass Works LLC or Bluegrassworks.com, or their respective affiliates. Reviewers are independent authors and the methodology of individual reviewers can and will vary. Remember, a review is an opinion, and every review is nothing more than the opinion of its author. We encourage musicians, writers and artists to share their work with us. However, please bear in mind that we do NOT guarantee favorable reviews. We always prefer to give positive feedback, but we also ask our writers to be honest. Please do not ask us to change or delete a review simply because you don't agree with it.

By your submission to us, you grant to us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, sublicenceable, non-exclusive right to use, display and distribute (in any format whatsoever, including MP3) the submission for any purpose related to this website; PROVIDED THAT IN THE CASE OF MUSIC, SONGS, SOUND FILES, MP3 FILES AND THE LIKE, SUCH LICENSE TO USE, DISPLAY AND DISTRIBUTE IS RESTRICTED AND LIMITED TO THE REASONABLE USE OF LAWFUL SAMPLES OR PORTIONS OF SUCH MUSIC, SONGS, SOUND FILES, MP3 FILES AND THE LIKE. WE DO NOT SELL MUSIC ON THIS SITE. IN THE CASE OF MUSIC, IT IS OUR POLICY TO PROVIDE USERS WITH FREE SAMPLES TO PORTIONS OF SONGS, IN FULL COMPLIANCE WITH COPYRIGHT LAWS. We generally limit our MP3 samples to a minute or so length, and not more than one-half of any entire song's length. All submissions, and all reviews, profiles or the like published by us, are subject to our Terms and Conditions.

We reserve the right to modify, delete or add review policies without prior notice.

Besides seeing your name on the review, we'd be happy to include a bio if you like or a link to your own website.

What you write about, and how often you write, is entirely within your control - once a year, once a month, whatever you choose depending on your level of commitment. You retain ownership of what your write should you want to use it elsewhere. In addition, we will not grant anyone else the right to re-print your work without YOUR permission.
